Ascending
from Transfixion - Re-issue of "Transfixion"
July 11th, 2010 - (Posted by Muhannad Bursheh)
The band's first
full-length album "Transfixion" which was released in 2005 under the
project's older name "Phex" will be re-issued by Horned Helmet
Productions with the title "Ascending from Transfixion", and will of
course be released under the project's new name "Bouq".
"Ascending from Transfixion" will be released a couple of weeks before
Bouq's much anticipated 2nd full-length album "Berserk", which has been
recently completed..
The re-issue "Ascending from Transfixion" will have the
following minor differences from the original 2005 album "Transfixion":
- It will be released under the band's new name "Bouq"
- Slightly different album title
- Completely different artwork & layout design
- The track "Phex" was renamed to become "Ascending from Transfixion"
- The cover song for Bolt Thrower's "Powder Burns" will be dropped from
the re-issue
Track-list for "Ascending from Transfixion"
1. Spirits and Devils
2. Llama's
Odyssey
3. Black
Vision
4. Ascending
from Transfixion
5. The
Timeless Maze
6. Blood
and Thorns
7. The
Insect War
8. Watching
Your Death
9. Fires
of Demise
All the above tracks were featured in the 2005
album "Transfixion" in the same order.
(With the exception of the minor differences mentioned further above).
The redesigned album artwork (shown below) was created by Muhannad
Bursheh

Personal Comment (Muhannad Bursheh):
Musically and lyrically, "Ascending from
Transfixion" is very different from the current style of Bouq; it is
much simpler and has a groovy death metal approach rather than the
ancient spirited grim dark/black metal style on "Berserk", thus, this
album will mark the end of the band's old style.
A more specific release date for the album will be announced shortly.

New Bouq
Logo Finally Done
June 23rd, 2010 - (Posted by Muhannad Bursheh)
The official Bouq logo is finally revealed. It was created by
metal's favorite logos artist Christophe Szpajdel, a.k.a. "The Lord of
Logos" who is highly acclaimed for creating immortalized logos for
bands such as Emperor, Old Man's Child, Moonspell, Melechesh, Borknagar
along many others in a never ending list.

Click on the logo to view it in larger dimensions
Personal Comment (Muhannad Bursheh):
"The process of creating this logo was a real challenge, but
we certainly hammered all obstacles. I gave Christophe a hard time with
the picky details I was asking for, but he embraced that and delivered
this masterpiece. One of the biggest challenges was creating a logo by
fusing elements from both Near Eastern and Western cultures which
reflect Bouq's vision of worldwide mythology and ancient history
themes, and somehow Christophe managed to do that perfectly. It is a
wonderful feeling to perceive your own band's logo as one of the best
you've ever seen. Many thanks to Christophe Szpajdel, it was a great
pleasure working with you."
Christophe Szpajdel Commented:
"It has been a very long and hard time to create the perfect
logo for Bouq, lots of stress but I am so happy I came out victorious
with the final result and I am so proud that the band will look
GREAT....For me this is one of the GREATEST achievements and I would
like to express my eternal thankfulness to Muhannad Bursheh for his
interest in having made his choice to work with me, you made me
come alive again, you made me again revive and resurge as the Lord of
Logos and for that, I can't thank you enough!"
As previously noted, "Bouq" is the classical Arabic term (singular) for
the blowing horns used in the ancient world during battles.

BOUQ:
Project Name Changed from Einherjer Rising to BOUQ
March 24th, 2010 - (Posted by Muhannad Bursheh)
Again,
and for the better, the project's name has been changed. "Bouq" is the
new and final name for this project. Bouq is a word taken from
ancient/formal Arabic, and it means a war horn (blowing horn used in
ancient warfare as a siren and for signaling between armies).

As all of you know by now, this
project was called "Phex" between 2001
and 2007, and in that period 3 demos and one full-length album were
released. Later the name was briefly changed to "Einherjer Rising", but
again, about 4 months ago I decided to drop yet another name and to
finally settle on "Bouq". I know that many changes have been made in
the past 2 years, but it has been a positively unstable period in the
project's career, and every change has been for the better. Bouq is a
great name, and it is a much better complement for the band's future
plans, for many of the future releases will be focused on ancient
civilizations from the Middle East, especially from Mesopotamia and the
Levant.
Currently, the official BOUQ logo is being designed by the Lord of
Logos; Christophe Szpajdel (Emperor, Old Man's Child, Moonspell,
Melechesh, ...).
The band's modified official links are as below:
Official MySpace: www.myspace.com/bouqband
Official Website: www.bouq-band.com
Official E-mail Address: contact@bouq-band.com
Concerning other matters; the release date for the new album "Berserk"
will be announced very soon, and for that, finally, the track "Berserk
- The Grand Raven Feast" from the album has been uploaded on Bouq's
MySpace page. Go ahead and give it a listen!
Please note that the track uploaded on MySpace is a greatly compressed
mp3 version of the song; this greatly reduces the audio quality, it is
in no way to be compared with the audio quality on the original CD or
at least higher mp3 bit rates.
The final track-list for the album Berserk is as follows:
1. Berserk - The Grand Raven Feast
2. Desrever Alumrof Ecnetsixe
3. Jormungander
4. Nature's Cult
5. Eidolon
6. Heathen
7. Wrath of a Warrior's Soul
8. Of Ragnarök
The album artwork featuring the new Bouq logo will be posted as soon as
the logo is finished. Nothing will change on the artwork itself, which
was illustrated by Craig Granato (USA).
Note on the word Bouq:
The "ou" in the middle should be read as the "oo" in "boot", NOT as the
"ou" in "mouth" or the "oo" in "book". The "q" represents a letter used
in most Semitic languages. It is like a heavy "q" but pronounced from
the throat. The image below shows how "Bouq" is written in Arabic.
